Have you ever felt that one USB charger/cable charges your device really fast and the other doesn't? Now, you can demonstrate this with Ampere.
Measure the charging and discharging current of the battery.
PRO Features:
- - Widgets
- - Notify
- - Alerts on the device
- - Alerts on Android Wear
Not every device is supported as there are devices that lack a suitable measurement chip (or interface) and they cannot be supported. Please read the list of unsupported phones at the end of the description.
Application does not mean exact mA. It's only good to evaluate which USB Charger/cable combo works best for you on the same device.
Please read more FAQ: http://goo.gl/R8XgXX
Start the application and wait for the shift. 10 seconds ("measurement" is on the display). After this time, the charging or discharging current will be displayed.
Currently depends on many things:
- - Charger (USB / AC / Wireless)
- - USB cable
- - Type of phone
- - Current quest running
- - Screen brightness
- - WiFi Status
- - GPS Status
Please do not use the readings on this app as a specific science. However, the readings are good enough for a relative measure of how different chargers and USB cables work on the same device.
If the application shows 0mA all the time, please use the "Old measurement method" setting. You can force the app to use the old gauge interface, if the Lollipop device has at least one.
Unfortunately, some Samsung devices do not provide an exact (measured) value (e.g. S5), just the maximum possible charge current with the actual USB charger/cable configuration. This is a firmware issue.
Basic info: The app measures the charging/discharging current of a battery. If your phone is not connected to the charger, you will see the discharge current as negative. If you connect a charger then the current it provides will be used to power your phone and the remaining power will be charged to the battery.
If your phone consumes 300 mA without a charger connected (-300mA on screen), then a 500 mA charger will charge your battery up to 200 mA (shown 200mA).
Technical information: The displayed current is the average value from 50 measurements minus 10 upper and 10 lower values. The displayed current may be shaky or unstable or even zero, which means Android system provides unstable values. Each company uses different batteries and different hardware making it difficult to get accurate results about your charger.
The LiPo battery does not drain at its maximum for the entire time it takes to charge the phone. If your battery is almost fully charged, the charging current will be much less due to the lower battery level.

Phone/ROMS compatible only with "Old Measurement Method" enabled and the correct "Measuring Interface" selected:
HTC One M7 / M8
LG G3
Phone/ROMS reported not working with this app:
- Galaxy Grand Prime - fortuna3gdtv
- Galaxy Note2 - t03g, t03gchn, t03gchnduos, t03gcmcc, t03gctc, t03gcuduos
- Galaxy S3 - d2att, d2spr, d2vmu
- Galaxy Tab4 7.0 - degas3g
- HTC Desire 510 - htc_a11ul8x26
- HTC One S (ville), X (endeavor), XL (evita)
- HTC Sensation 4G - pyramid
Please don't misjudge, if your phone is one of the above. Not the wrong app, but your phone doesn't support this measurement yet.
If the app doesn't work on your device with a pre-Lollipop version of Android, then please read the first and second posts in this XDA developer forum thread: http://goo.gl/pZqJg8 . Please post your issue with screenshots in the XDA thread.
